Privacy
Last updated: 13 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how PocketTrip ("the app"), a travel budget and expense tracker made by Beren Software (a company based in the Netherlands, KvK 89646118), handles your information. In short: your trips and expenses live on your device and in your own private iCloud — we cannot see them, and we never sell your data. A plain-language summary is at the bottom.
We designed PocketTrip to collect as little as possible.
We do not collect your name, the contents of your trips and expenses, your location history, your email address or your payment details.
Trips, expenses, budgets, categories, travel companions, notes and photos you add are stored on your device and, if you are signed in to iCloud, synced through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) to your other devices using your private iCloud database. This data is controlled by you and your Apple ID; Beren Software has no access to it.
We use the limited information above only to improve the app, provide technical support, and manage purchases. We do not use it for profiling or advertising.
If you grant permission, the app uses your location on-device to automatically fill in the country and place for an expense and to show weather for your trip. To fetch weather, approximate coordinates are sent to the Open-Meteo API. We do not store your location on our servers.
Receipt and memory photos you add stay in the app and your iCloud. Receipt scanning runs entirely on your device using Apple's on-device intelligence — receipt images are not uploaded to us or any third party.
All network requests use HTTPS encryption, analytics are anonymised, and your trip data is protected by your device and iCloud encryption.
Purchases (PocketTrip Pro) are processed by Apple — we never see your card or payment details. RevenueCat verifies and manages subscription status using a pseudonymous identifier.
We use TelemetryDeck to understand which features are used. Signals are aggregated and contain no personal data or trip content, there is no advertising identifier (IDFA), and there is no cross-app tracking.
PocketTrip contains no advertising and does not sell or share your personal data.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export personal data we hold. Because your app content is stored in your own iCloud, most of it is already under your control — you can delete any trip or expense in the app, and remove all data by deleting the app and its iCloud data. For anything else, contact us.
The third parties we rely on are GDPR-compliant. Your trip data itself stays on your device and in your iCloud.
Where the GDPR applies, we process the limited data above on the basis of your consent, our legitimate interest in improving and supporting the app, and the performance of our contract with you.
In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting personal data, we will notify affected users and the relevant authority where required, within 72 hours of becoming aware.
This website uses no tracking or advertising cookies. The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile solely to tell humans from bots.
PocketTrip is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above will change and the current version is always posted here.
